Time to go home!

Around 5:30 yesterday, they gave us the clear to head home.  Elijah is very healthy and other than a little bit of jaundice that we have to keep an eye on, he is in perfect shape! We were so happy to hear that he had done so well in his hospital stay.  You could definitely tell that Kirk and I were first-timers as we got him ready to come home...dressing him and diaper changes were a little traumatic for Elijah, but I think he forgave us :).

We finally got his diaper issues taken care of (after he peed all over the place!) and got him dressed and ready to go!

We could not be happier to be at home and Elijah was a champ in his first night here.  

The Duncans Arrive!

On Saturday, Elijah got to meet all his Duncan aunts and uncle and grandparents! It was a big day, and I think he thoroughly enjoyed it :).

The Adoring Fans...

On Friday, Elijah had even more visitors! We knew our son would be popular obviously, but we have been overwhelmed by the amount of love and support that our friends and family have shown through phone calls, gifts, visits, and more.  Thank you all!

The Duncans were all going to arrive on Saturday, but Uncle Kyle came Friday night.  He just couldn't wait to meet his little buddy.

The Bakers came down from Upland.  Jim said Elijah was the newest, youngest, and cutest (I might have added that last adjective) he's ever held!

Jess C. came down too bearing all sorts of gifts from Upland, including Taylor gear for Elijah, grille cookies, and strawberry lemonades (only TU people will fully appreciate that!).

Day Two.

Our first night with a son went pretty well. The nurses took Elijah to the nursery around 11pm and then brought him in to feed around 1am and 4:30am, and then gave him back to us for good around 7:30am. We could have kept him with us the whole night, but Thursday had been a long day and Chrissie and I both needed some serious shut-eye.

His feet were VERY purple the first day so I was happy to see that overnight they had turned a nice shade of pink.

I am SO excited to see Elijah grow up and figure out what his passions are. Now, I'm not going to force him to play sports - but doesn't he just look like a natural with a basketball???

Elijah Philip Duncan

I know this is considered "the Duncans" blog, but it's really Chrissie's blog about the Duncans. So hopefully I'll get the pics on here right because this is my first time blogging.

We got to the hospital just before 7am on Thursday 01/15/09. It took a whole hour before Chrissie was all prepped to have her water broken and labor induced.

Unfortunately my prediction to have the baby by 10am did not prove true. After an hour of really painful contractions, a wonderful epidural, a "texas roll", and then a little over 2 hours of pushing....Elijah Philip Duncan was born into this world!

This is after the nurse wiped him down. I considered putting a pic up of him right after he was born, but as much as people say how beautiful newborns are, they really aren't something you want to look at too much until after they've been cleaned up.

Here Elijah is getting weighed. 8lbs - 6oz.

It won't be long now...

It's hard to believe that 9 months of waiting is almost over!! I have been so impatient and now, I'm sitting here with the reality that this will be my last night without a baby.  Yup, that's right.  I know FOR SURE I will have a baby by tomorrow! I had a dr.'s appt on Tuesday and everything is continuing to progress well with the baby, so my dr. said she would have no problem setting up a time to induce if I wished.  I do wish...so that's what we are doing!

Kirk and I are headed to the hospital tomorrow morning at 7 am.  Please keep us in your prayers and we will obviously keep you posted upon the arrival of the little one!

It's Been a Year?!

I can not believe that Monday will mark one year of marriage for Kirk and me.  It has certainly been a whirlwind of a year, but we are so thankful to have gone through it together! Even though it is early, we decided to celebrate last night since it's the weekend (and because we are both terribly impatient people) :).  I love you, Kirk!!

Then, Kirk took me to my all time favorite restaurant, The Melting Pot! It's where we went the night we got engaged and it was a perfect way to celebrate a year of marriage! He wanted to grab a quick kiss before dinner :).

A Low Key New Years Celebration

Kirk and I didn't really make any big plans for New Years, so we decided we should at least go out to dinner.  We went to Houlihans (I even got a little dressed up and put on heels...that didn't last long) and then came home and just spent the night hanging out.  We got my family hooked up with skype and webcams for Christmas since it will be an easy way for them to see Baby Duncan.  My parents just got it hooked up yesterday, so we spent a long time talking with them when we got home from dinner.  They are officially hooked on webcams! It was fun to ring in the new year for the first time as a married couple!

I went to the bakery down the street from our house in the morning and bought us each a special 2009 cookie...we are lame.
